SWOC

"SWOC" is the abbreviation for the Seattle Westercon Organizing Committee, the sponsoring organization for the 2012 Westercon. SWOC was founded in the 1990s to bring Westercons back to Seattle after a long hiatus, and SWOC has hosted Westercon 46, 50, 56, and Cascadia Con, the very successful NASFiC in 2005. SWOC also started Worldcon bids for 2002 and 2011, though these bids were suspended because of last-minute facilities issues.

SWOC also hosta an annual conrunning conference, ConComCon, known unofficially though widely as "C-Cubed". ConComCon helps develop skills and contacts for conventions across the Pacific Northwest, welcoming conrunners involved in running literary, gaming, anime, furry, "multigenre", and more general science fiction conventions. C-Cubed has been held for the past 17 years in locations around the Seattle area and Vancouver BC, Portland, and sites in central Washington. The convention was founded by the Northwest Convention League; SWOC took over when the League's lack of formal structure became an organizational issue.
