Chair begins to name ConClusion concom
Bobbie DuFault (Chair) has started to appoint people to the Westercon 65 committee. Division heads include Ari Goldstein (Facilities), Sally Woehrle (Registration), James Stanley Daugherty (Programming), and Alex von Thorn (Publications) with Susan Robinson as Treasurer. Conventions where you will find us in the near future
What Where When SpoCon Spokane July30-August 1, 2010 Fandemonium Boise August 6-8, 2010 Dragonflight Seattle August 13-15, 2010 Rainfurrest Seattle September 24-26, 2010 OryCon Portland November 12-14, 2010 Loscon Los Angeles November 26-28, 2010 We will also have people available to answer questions at Reconstruction in Raleigh and Aussiecon Four in Melbourne. Other conventions to be added as we fill our committee. We need people to “own” areas to make sure that we have a presence at all the conventions. If you are willing to manage a fan table or host a party please contact us.
Seattle bid chosen to host the 2012 Westercon
The site selection vote at Westercon 63 chose the Seattle bid to host Westercon 65 in 2012. Bobbie DuFault will be the convention chair, and Susan Robinson will be the treasurer, according to the bid filing papers. The convention theme is “A Step Out of Time”. Many traditions speak of an end of time as we know it, but we present it as an end of life as we know it and the dawn of a new age, a phase of destruction and creation, death and rebirth. All timelines and alternate histories will overlap, converge, and merge in the moment of change, to become something new in the new era. Fantasy, science fiction, steampunk and cyberpunk, classical and cutting edge, slipstream and mainstream, all will appear and overlap in the days of ConClusion.
