Seattle is bidding for Westercon in 2012
The vote for the 2012 Westercon will be held at Confirmation, the 63rd West Coast Science Fiction Convention, in Pasadena CA, in 2010.
We hope to see all of you there voting for us. Along the way on our journey to Pasadena we will be at many other conventions in many other cities around the Western half of North America.
We hope that we will see you at our bid parties and various events. Please stop by and show your support for bringing the 65th Westercon to Seattle in 2012

Known as one of America's trendiest and most livable cities, Seattle is a delight for the tourist. You can shop at Pike Place Market (watch out for flying fish!), visit the International District and historic Pioneer Square, and cruise Puget Sound by ferry or sailboat. Just outside the city are more great sights and experiences, from northwest wineries to the San Juan Islands, where Orca whales make their home.
Seattle is truly a cultural melting pot, shaped by the Pacific Rim in everything from architecture to its eclectic cuisine. The art of glassblowing, pioneered by Dale Chihuly, is on display at Seattle galleries and the Museum of Glass. And you'll have a special opportunity to sample the city's music scene at our Tuesday evening General Reception at Experience Music Project, a new interactive museum of American popular music.
Seattle and the surrounding Cascadia Region has an active and large fandom community. We have a great variety of annual conventions and festivals. Also there are many clubs and organizations that meet and socialize outside of annual gatherings as well. Each event has its own unique flavor and we manage to have loads of fun at each. The Seattle Times Newspaper profiled the area's fandom in the summer of 2006.
Seattle has also previously been the host to many traveling conventions including the following: Boucher Con, CostumeCon, Ditto, SmofCon, World Horror Convention, WesterCon(4), Nebula Awards, Corflu(3), NASFIC, and the Locus Awards.
